Premium Report - Return Rate Reports

Order/Product/Product Variant/Vendor Return Rate

Return Rate Reports are used to compare how much of something has been sold vs how much has been returned.

These reports all follow a very similar format - tracking your Return Rate on a per-order, per-product, per-variant or per-vendor basis.

Info
As Premium Reports, these are available on all Paid Plans of Report Toaster. If you aren't signed up, follow these steps here to upgrade your account.

Let's look at the Order Return Rate as an example:

Here are a few terms to be familiar with in order to understand Return Rate Reports:

1.) Orders: The number of orders you had in a given month.
Idea
For example, if I had 47,056 Orders in April 2025, 47,056 would appear in the field.

2.) Returned Orders: The number of orders you had with at least one Line Item that had a Refund (partial or full refund) in a given month.
Idea
For example, had 2,025 Orders in April 2025 that had a Line Item with a Refund in them, 2,025 would appear in the field.

3.) Return Rate: The number of Returned Orders divided by the number of Orders x100.
Idea
For example, if I had 2,025 Returned Orders out of 47,056 total, the Return Rate would be 2,025/47,056 x 100 = 4.30%.

4.) Gross Sales: The Price x Quantity for those Orders.
Idea
For example, if I had 47,056 Orders in April, and the Price x Quantity of the goods on those orders equaled 5,069,630.54, then this would display in the column for that row.

5.) Returns: The refunded amount for the Line Items that were refunded on those particular orders.
Idea
For example, if I had 2,025 Returned Orders, and the refund amounts for the line items on those orders was 357,335.76, then this would display in the column for that row.

6.) Return Pct (%): The Returns divided by the Gross Sales x 100.
Idea
For example, if Returns was 357,335.76 and the Gross Sales was 5,069,630.54, then then the calculation would be 357,335.76/5,069,630.54 x 100 = 7.05%

For Product/Product Variant and Vendor Return Rate, it works very similarly but there are a couple of different fields to account for:

7.) Quantity: The number of units sold for a particular product/variant/vendor.
Idea
For example, if I sold 970 of the Floating Flamingo product, then the Quantity would display as 970.

8.) Quantity Returned: The number of units with a refund (partial or total) for a particular product/variant/vendor.
Idea
For example, if 24 units of the Floating Flamingo product had a refund, the Quantity Returned would display as 24.

9.) Quantity Returned (%): The Quantity Returned divided by the Quantity x 100.
Idea
For example, if I sold 970 of the Floating Flamingo product and 24 were Returned, then the calculation would be 24/970 x 100 = 2.47%

Like all Report Toaster reports, these reports are fully customizable - so you can adjust the date range, add/remove columns, introduce a filter or change the sort to suit your individual needs. See our basic guides here for more info.
