Premium Report - Risky Orders
Risky Orders
This report is for merchants who are looking for the details on any risky orders in Shopify.
Using this report, you can see all of the necessary information about orders that Shopify classifies as High or Medium Risk.
You can see all the key information about the order, what risk factors there are, and what Shopify recommends doing with those orders accordingly.
You can find this report under Orders in the left-hand menu.

As a Premium Report, this is available on all Paid Plans of Report Toaster. If you aren't signed up, follow these steps
here to upgrade your account.

Note that by default, this report is filtered to display only orders that have any of the associated risk factors (see Order Risk Issues, below), haven't been cancelled, and are classified by Shopify as High or Medium risk.
You can remove any of these conditions from the filter to only look for the orders you care about.
Here is what you need to be familiar with to understand the Risky Orders report.
1.) Order Risk Issues: The Shopify risk factors from an order (pulled from Risk / Order Risks, below):
- Distance between shipping and IP - Shipping address is a certain distance from the user's current IP address.
- Multiple payment attempts - There were multiple payment attempts on this order.
- Multiple credit cards - Payment was attempted with multiple credit cards.
- Web Proxy - A high risk internet connection (web proxy) was used to place the order.
- Fraud pattern - Characteristics of this order are similar to fraudulent orders observed in the past.
- Address mismatch (street) - Billing street address doesn't match credit card's registered address.
- Address mismatch (ZIP/postcode) - Billing address ZIP or postal code doesn't match credit card's registered address.
- CVV mismatch - Card Verification Value (CVV) is incorrect.

For example, many of these Orders above are placed from a user who is located far away from the Shipping Address.
While some of these users may be travelling, it might be considered suspicious if you see other risk factors as well.
2.) Miles Between Shipping and IP: The number of miles between the customer's Shipping Address and their IP Address (if available)

For example, with that first order we can see the user is over 1,000 miles away from where the order is being shipped
3.) Risk / Order Risks: The raw Order Risks data provided by Shopify.

For example, I could click on the dropdown here for that first order and see the exact Order Risks provided by Shopify for the full details.
4.) Risk / Risk Level: The Risk Level provided by Shopify. Possible values are None, Low, Medium, and High

For example, that first order is considered medium risk.
5.) Risk / Risk Recommendation: The Risk Recommendation provided by Shopify. Possible values are None, Low, Accept, Investigate, and Cancel (based on the Risk Level, above)

For example, that first order Shopify recommends Investigate, as it is deemed medium risk
Finally - If you want more information on an order, then the pop-up box on the right side of each row has all the order details.
You can also click on the order name to be taken straight to it in Shopify, which is useful for when you've decided how to handle the order (whether to approve or cancel)
Like all Report Toaster reports, these reports are fully customizable - so you can add/remove columns, introduce a filter or change the sort to suit your individual needs. See our basic guides
